In this iconic setting, we restored a nineteenth century stone building to deliver a series of spectacular Central London apartments. By restoring the historic facades and altering the modern concrete frame within, we added two storeys behind a bronzed copper mansard roof. Housed within were a series of lateral apartments and a duplex penthouse.
The former office space was completely re-imagined around a simple circulation core to link a series of grand, connected living spaces that flow effortlessly from front to rear elevation. The plan maximises the potential offered by the building to create beautiful, functional homes.
From the owners
“We had acquired a trophy building with stunning views over Trafalgar Square. Rod and his team using their imagination, created wonderful lateral apartments and a stunning new build penthouse. Their creativity was a combination of flair, imagination, taste and understanding very quickly the client brief.”
This was our first large scale project and my first project under my own name. It will always have a special place in our collective minds.
Our client bought into the idea of engaging a young, creative team and allowed us the space to question everything from the ground up. This restless need to challenge and re-evaluate throughout the process has become embedded in our approach.
